This project was realized under cooperation with Yesss atelier. The main goal was reconstruction of daily zone of family house’s interior. This house was bought by clients from its previous and first owners. We noticed couple of differences already with first evaluation. Kitchen (green walls, unique shade of working desk) was separated from living room by material and optical change of floor. Colour change of floor was visible on the staircase as well.

Living space connected by gallery with upper floor created generous space, despite this fact it created the feeling of inconsistency. Particular elements were not linked to each other and were not aligned in certain range. In existing space they used more shades of wood, material and colour combinations. These principles caused disharmony and optical division of space.

Original condition

Since the very beginning we have outlined new visions to match withstanding expectations of our clients. The idea was to redesign the space and to create open and compact zone filled with feeling of harmony and cosines of home.

Given the input parameters, the leading task was to reduce and align materials and to bring this notion consequently to the upper floor afterwards, all in pursuit of perfect mutual alignment of both the floors. We designed interior walls with shade of soft beige and we aligned floors in all areas of a daily zone.

We used oak tones on furniture in living area making it harmonically connected with the rest of areas in question. Such change enhanced the importance of the living room wall. In the meantime, we have found a functional use of previously unoccupied space under the staircase– we used it to place a grocery cupboard with discreetly incorporated hidden door.

We add a new fireplace as well, laying it not anymore freely in the open area but connecting it well with living room furniture and matching it perfectly with suspended drawers. Another issue to be solved was the position of the chimney. We hid it perfectly into newly built wardrobe on the upper floor, where only unused part of gallery dwelled so far. With this solution we maximized the utilization of the area and we simultaneously enhanced available storage space.

New interior

Client’s request was to create a hobby area on upper floor where she would be able to spend free time with her daughter. Since the very beginning, whole space of the upper floor has seemed unavailable due to its low height and inclined ceiling.

We successfully changed this disadvantage into our favour as we designed multi-purpose library with integrated seating. Even in two you can use this space for reading or spending leisure time in various manners. Furniture respects the seating position and adjusts to lower sloping ceiling. We found space for games in the middle section of the room which is lit by daylight suffciently thus matching the needs of children.

It seems that the outcome of this challenge exceeded set expectations. – We even managed to transform former “attic” to multifunctional area. Final designs are visually pleasant and smooth. Whole space provides atmosphere full of warmth with a bit of charming elegance.
